Q: What is meant by ‘health data’ and ‘health information’?

A:  Health data or information is data that is obtained by a GP or hospital when you visit them and relates to conditions you have and checks you have undergone.

Q: Will this data be collected?

A:  Data will be collected by PCT’s at a local level, this information can then be made available to NWeH.

Q: How exactly will my data be used?

A:  All of your healthcare data are made anonymous (your name and other identifying information are removed by the NHS). Your data are then combined with the data of other patients with the same condition and analysed.

Q: What benefits does NWeH bring to patients?

A:  Analysis and intelligence will allow trusts to buy-in the right services for you, not just now but in the future.  Analysis of drugs and treatments will ensure best practice is used across the NHS,

Q: Can I request that my data are not used?

A:  Yes you can opt-out via your PCT or GP.

Q: Can I request my own data?

A:  You can request your data through your local PCT
