National IT strategy vital, says BMA

The British Medical Association says national IT strategy is essential for delivering modern healthcare. In a paper looking at the future of general practice, the BMA’s General Practice Committee says IT has many benefits for healthcare and calls for continual improvement in data quality in general practice and progression towards a paperless practice. IT projects should be based on clinician requirements and should directly or indirectly enhance patient care, it says.
