The Nuffield Trust has posted an update on predictive risk modellingon its website. 

The technique is now widely used in the NHS and involves usingmathematical models to predict which patients in a given population are at riskof emergency hospital admission. Services can then be directed towards these patientswith the aim of preventing a costly admission. 

The presentations cover:

•predictive modelling schemesused in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales

•Applications withinnational/regional and public/private sector schemes
